There is a subdivision in Tucson called the Winterhaven neighborhood. It is written into the covenants and all potential buyers are alerted that they will HAVE TO decorate outdoors for Christmas. For two weeks in December, the neighborhood invites people to come and view their lights. It has become quite the tradition for many families to bundle up (if necessary) and roam all the streets in the dark.
Last week, Cooper, Gail and Dave Hanley and I ventured to Winterhaven to enjoy the show. It was cold enough to wear my puffy. I wish I would have brought gloves. Following is a tour of just a few highlights of this remarkable neighborhood.
We decided that these people must have no lives from about October on to get all these lights up. Of course, not everyone goes to the extent these examples have, but it really is a pretty festive event to enjoy. So glad we went.
On our way to Winterhaven, we stopped in at Serial Grillers for a bite to eat first. They had great cheesesteaks, burgers, pizza, grilled cheese and tater tots. This got me to thinking about Jason and Angie and their blog, grilledcheeseandtatertots.com. Gail had told them about Serial Grillers and that they had tator tots. As it turns out, Jason and Angie were at Serial Grillers earlier in the same day we were there, again proving it is a small world. We checked out their website for their review and wouldn’t you know it, Angie said the grilled cheese there was one of the best ever. Check it out on their website for their review.
